[There's a pause -- a moment where she thinks if a hug would be too forward, she's missed him after all -- but this isn't like Shuji, where she knows the gesture will be well-received. It's not much like with John, either, where she could just bully her way getting what she wants.
So she lets the moment pass with her heart stone metaphorically running in circles, smiling at him instead while she steps inside.]
[ he says that with a chuckle, closing the door behind her. ] It's still hard to believe, but they teleported us here.
[ but with all the weird things that have happened since getting the app...he feels a bit stupid for feeling surprised by this. but at least he's able to laugh about it, even if it is at his own expense. still, it doesn't last long, his usual poker face returning after a few seconds. ]
I wanted to get you something for helpin' me out last month but...then all of this happened so, uh, [ he shuffles to the kitchen for a second, and comes back with a small box, clearly from a bakery. inside is a piece of chocolate cake! he holds it out for her to take ]
... Wait, but then... [A confused squint that wrinkles her eyebrows] Then why did you guys have to take a boat in the first place?
[And nevermind she also didn't realize this place had teleporters. That's straight out of science fiction novels. Goodness, why isn't that technology being shared with the rest of the class? It would've made getting around the city a lot easier back when they had the dome hanging overhead.
Though all of that nitpicking? Soon forgotten when Odasaku presents a slice of cake that has Sakura's head swiveling in attention.]
[ and here he was thinking that it wouldn't be enough. he blinks at the box that's still in his hands, then moving his gaze back up at sakura again. ]
I didn't know if you'd wanna eat it here or later in your house but...I can get a fork for you if you want. But if you wanna save it that's fine, too...I guess. [ i swear this man can socialize properly. ]
[Haaa... that gets an exasperated giggle from her, his manner of suggestion being so awkward it rounds back as charming somehow. She reaches for the box, taking it off of his hands.]
Well, first off, of course it's sweet. It wasn't anything you had to do, but you still did.
[Smiling at him]
And... um, I could eat it here, if you'd like to share it.
[ oda scratches the back of his neck meekly, wondering about what sakura says. she said that he didn't have to, but his heart had told him at the time that this was the least he could do.
but he doesn't feel bad. it's kinda difficult to feel bad when she's smiling at him. ]
That doesn't sound half bad. [ he goes to the kitchen, and comes out with a second fork. ] Wanna sit on the couch?
[She'll follow his lead in that case, to wherever they'll find the couch. Somewhat ironically she realizes she's only familiar with his bedroom and kitchen, as those were the two rooms she'd seen the most of last time she was here.]
I get the first bite, though, since you bought it for me.
[ woosh there goes that joke, flying right over his head. he doesn't see it as something mean-spirited or anything like that, though. he bought the cake for sakura in the first place, so it's only natural that she gets the first bite. ]
I hope it's good enough. I didn't know if you liked chocolate or not but... most people do so I assumed...
[She can practically see her joke not sticking the landing and that almost makes her laugh again. Ah well. It's probably on her for not making it clearer.]
Well, it does look delicious... [She almost feels bad cutting into the cake with her fork] And don't worry, I love chocolate.
[Probably more than is healthy, in fac-- oh damn it.
Her expression morphs from eagerness to exasperation before she even takes a bite, and she slouches back as if in a pout.]
[ the change in her expression rings warning bells in odasaku's head and his mind suddenly starts running to imagine what could be wrong. is she feeling sick? did he somehow upset her? could it be a memory?
so when she actually goes and says what's wrong, he has to take a moment to think about why she would want to bring him chocola--
oh. oh right. valentine's. ]
It's fine, don't worry. If you want, you can save them for when I come back from Pesgare again.
[Oh trust her, if Sakura had a memory, she'd go comatose, not vaguely disappointed in herself. She's fine, and in fact even takes a bite of the chocolate cake while she mulls over Oda's suggestion with a slow nod. He's right, it's not even a big deal, but she does feel as if she missed a wonderful opportunity.
... Goodness, though, this cake is delicious. Disappointment momentarily forgotten, she holds out the box to Odasaku]
Oh wow, you have to try this! You picked a really good bakery.
[ odasaku blinks in surprise, relieved that sakura had enjoyed the cake so much. she says that he picked a good bakery but, truthfully, he just picked the first one he saw.
he won't say no to her request, though. taking the box in his hands, he takes a forkful of the cake. oh. oh damn this is good. it even draws out a small smile. the power of good chocolate cake. ]

I can be there in thirty minutes.

[ and oda will go right to cleaning the place right up because goddamn two weeks and this place turns into a dust vortex. ]
no subject
Odasaku-san? It's me.
no subject
either way, there's no time to think and regret anymore. he opens the door, wide enough for sakura to come in. ]
Hey. Been a while. Come in.

We might have to get this more often. It's good.
